DP and the Summer Feier ex-beer-ience

T’was last Friday that DP had one of our summer parties. There is also another one planned in Kiel for this coming week (write-up to follow) but we like to declare a beer Friday close to the Summer Solstice as our “Summer” Beer Friday and make a special occasion of it.

And a special Occasion we did make with our fridge stocked full of booze and an obscene quantity of Pizza and sushi delivered to us. We had some fun, caught up with friends in other departments, and played some quite epic games of flip cup and various summery activities till about 1-2 in the morning (by most peoples best estimates.)

Whether on team beer or team Sushi or team I just had a kebab and can’t handle any more food we all were fed and watered/beered and had a huge amount of fun in the process.

              

As we say at DP fun is always to be found in a fridge or two full of nice beers and some sunshine to enjoy outside.*

DP @ the Berliner Firmenlauf 2015

Last Friday it was time again for us to participate in the annual Berliner Firmenlauf. 25 of us headed towards the Brandenburg Gate to prove our mad running skills, some more than others.

What felt like 35° C was actually only 30° C of blue sky and sunny weather to make us sweat while running 5,5k. Next to us and a couple of fireman dressed in full-on uniform (with gas masks!) around 12.000 more enthusiastic runners started to race from the Brandenburg Gate, via the Holocaust Memorial, along the southern boarder of the Tiergarten, towards the Berlin Victory Column, and back to the Brandenburg Gate via the Straße des 17. Juni. Quite an encouraging last meters from the Victory Column towards the finish line – the Brandenburg Gate in sight and yet it seemed so far away (at least for some of us). In the end we all made it to the finish line, with the majority of us in less than 30 minutes. So, lets see you can set a new record at the upcoming B2Run in September! Again, DP has proven to be quite sportive and definitely team-spirited!

ALL HANDS @ DP

For a couple of weeks now we’ve been meeting almost every Wednesday morning for a few minutes to get together and more importantly to get up to date on what is happening in the other departments as we’ve introduced a new meeting series called ALL HANDS!

As we are divided in into 6 departments, roughly 20 team, different floors in 2 separate buildings, it’s quit the challenge to get all of us 120 people into the same room. However, on Wednesday mornings we manage step away from our work and get together, even our colleagues from Belgrade are take part in our meeting via Skype. 

The idea behind our ALL HANDS meetings is to keep everyone up to date about new champagnes and projects, new employees, upcoming events, and everything else that is going on at DP, as for example the latest soccer scores of our very own DP football team. So in a nutshell, we simply try to get everyone together to strengthen our company culture and create transparence. And after all, if successes are announced, it’s much nicer to have everyone cheering together that reading an e-mail announcement about it.
